Patterns in Project Success, Patterns in Project Failure

The essential workshop for those holding leadership roles in software projects

Delayed, failed and cancelled software projects cost organizations billions of dollars annually. Almost every organization experiences the pain of a troubled project at some point. The fallout in terms of cost, damaged reputation and personal stress levels can be extreme. Such failures are not surprising given that few organizations train development teams how to recognize and avoid the pitfalls and traps that lead to failure.

Patterns in Project Success, Patterns in Project Failure is a unique 2-day Project Management workshop that contrasts the events that lead to success with the events that lead to failure. Based on the experiences of hundreds of projects, the course distills into recognizable patterns the repeated elements that drive success or failure.

This course is written by a practicing Senior Project Manager experienced in project recovery, and fills the gap in traditional project management training. Focusing on the role of decision making in project outcomes, the course contrasts how teams heading for trouble make decisions with the decision making mechanisms used by the most successful teams. Illustrated with war stories and a live Project Management Simulation game, "from the trenches" insights provide participants with the knowledge needed to see the big picture and understand the cause/effect relationships that drive project results.

This workshop is aimed at those who hold key decision making roles: Project Managers, Lead Architects, Technical Leads, Test Managers and Business Analyst Leads. It provides participants with a mental model of how projects work in the real world and the depth of understanding needed to ensure success.

Patterns in Project Success, Patterns in Project Failure provides the alternative to the high-cost school of hard knocks used by so many organizations in the past. Whether you've recently experienced the pain of a troubled project or simply recognize the need to deepen your team understanding, this is the workshop for you.

Who Should Attend

All participants who have hold significant decision making roles including Project Managers, Lead Architects, Lead Developers, Test Managers and Lead Business Analysts. Sessions can also be arranged to include key stakeholders.
